The Echo Young Playwrights is a group of Los Angeles based playwrights in the early stages of their career dedicated to developing new work for the stage.
The Echo is committed to providing these evolving playwrights with the support, resources, and guidance necessary for their growth.
The EYP playwrights will attend bi-monthly meetings, receive regular mentoring from members of the Echo LAB, our group of professional writers, and have their work presented monthly by members of the Echo and the Echo Associate Company.
The first presentation will be in late Spring 2020 featuring short plays, monologues, and excerpts from longer works that are in process.
By nourishing the next generation of local playwrights, Echo looks to enrich Los Angeles theater while serving our community.
Applicants must be at early stages of their career- may not have had previous professional productions.
Writers must submit the following by March 15th.
-Two writing samples (full length-plays, one-acts, ten-minute plays are all acceptable. They must be in .pdf format. No name, or any other writer contact information can be on the writing samples themselves)
-Cover letter describing your background, experience, what you hope to gain from this program, and the type of work you would like to create.
– A resume including creative/educational background
Please e-mail all submissions to firstname.lastname@example.org with the subject line Echo Young Playwrights. We will schedule interviews with the candidates the second week of April.
