Erik Patterson is an award-winning playwright and screenwriter. He recently won the Los Angeles Drama Critic’s Circle Award for One of the Nice Ones, which had its world premiere at The Echo Theater Company in 2016. His plays have been produced by Playwrights’ Arena, the Los Angeles Theatre Center, Theatre of NOTE, Evidence Room, The Actors’ Gang, and the Echo Theater Company, as well as developed through the Lark Play Development Center, Moving Arts, Black Dahlia, Naked Angels, the Mark Taper Forum, and New Group. His plays have been nominated for the Ovation Award, the Stage Raw Award, the LA Weekly Award, and the GLAAD Media Award.With his screenwriting partner Jessica Scott, Erik has written projects in all genres for Warner Bros., Universal, 20th Century Fox, Disney, Freeform, MTV, Paramount, Castle Rock, Warner Horizon, and Disney, to name a few. Their writing for TV has been has been recognized with the Humanitas Prize and the Writer’s Guild Award, as well as two Emmy nominations. Their current horror feature, Abandoned, produced by and starring Zachary Quinto, is slated to begin production soon. Recently, they wrote the sequel to Deep Blue Sea, which was released in the summer of 2018 as a “tent pole” feature during Syfy’s “Shark Week” programming. They also recently completed three new original romantic comedies for Hallmark, after having written several hits for the network, including Love at First Bark (2017), Love on a Limb (2016), Love Under the Stars (2015), and The Christmas Note (2015). Other credits include fourteen episodes of R.L. Stine’s The Haunting Hour, Another Cinderella Story, and an upcoming sequel to Bring It On.Erik’s play The Smell of Something to Eat recently premiered at Theatre of NOTE in Hollywood, and his play Handjob opens at Echo Theater Company in September 2019. He is a graduate of Occidental College and the British American Drama Academy.
