The Echo is dedicated to supporting artists who bring bold new work to the stage. The mission of our Young Playwright’s Lab is to nurture and develop the next generation of playwrights. Lab members will participate in:
- Weekly workshops where their work will be read out loud and they will receive feedback and guidance
- Workshops with professional guest artist moderator mentors.
- Biannual public readings of their work by professional actors at the Echo Theater
- A web platform to promote their work while connecting with other young artists.
While Lab membership is on a scholarship basis, admittance is by application only. We are looking for young writers who are willing collaborators, possess a bold voice, and are committed to developing their work as a part of an inclusive artistic community that represents a diversity of backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives.
The Lab operates on an ongoing basis, so interested applicants are encouraged to apply at their earliest convenience. – please note that a lack of prior theater experience in no way is a disqualification. If you are interested, applicants must fill out the application below, along with signing the Signature Sheet (with a parent/guardian).
