Making theater is about being of service. It’s an exercise in empathy; a practice of compassion; an affirmation of our humanity. We are so lucky to participate!
And despite all the dreadful noise and news this year, we kept going. We presented Lucas Hnath’s The Thin Place, Eliza Frakes’ Certain Death and Other Considerations, Bernardo Cubria’s Crabs In A Bucket, Ann Noble’s Bella Incarceration, JuCoby Johnson’s How It’s Gon’ Be, and Alternate Endings, a festival of commissioned ten-minute plays by June Carryl, Lisa Dring, Peter Pasco, Lina Patel, Abby Rosebrock, Dana Schwartz, and David Zheng.
And we weren’t alone: Circle X, Open Fist, EST, Coeurage, Ghost Road, IAMA, Antaeus, NOTE, The Fountain, LGBT, Moving Arts, Road, Boston Court, Celebration, Interact, Rogue Machine, Ammunition all kept going.
It is what we all do; we make theater and it is good for everyone!
So thanks to our fellow companies.
And thanks to our twelve playwrights, twelve directors, fifteen designers, six stage managers, six producers, and twenty actors who gave of themselves so generously, so bravely, and so beautifully.
And thanks to you.
We’re all in this together- let’s keep going.
